Having worked for 20 years and in many industries, my experience at AccountStaff for the past 14 months has been very fulfilling so far. The breadth and diversity of work that I am exposed to is one of the highlights about working here. Without having to change my employer I could have the opportunity to work in various industries and environments (MNCs, listcos, government, PLEs, SMEs). I am never bored of working.
The work is varied - comprising group or stand-alone work, in different industries and with choices of short-term, contract or long-term assignments, making each project distinct from the next. Being able to work in many different environments allows me to acquire a good knowledge of various technical skills (software & applications) and a good understanding of the different work cultures. I have the opportunity to meet and interact with people from all walks of life, which not only hones my soft skills but has also given me many invaluable experiences.
I'm currently seconded to a US company that provides Finance and Operating Leases in the Asia Pacific. I am responsible for the monthly closure of accounting books for countries that include New Zealand, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
What adds on to the satisfaction of my job is that support is always there when I need it. In order to help its staff stay relevant with ever-changing accounting standards, AccountStaff provides on-the-job training programmes which elevate my technical knowledge on a continual basis. Financial and leave support is also provided to encourage me in my ACCA studies which I am currently pursuing part-time. From the practical ACCA workshops and professional advice of my lecturers, I could handle challenges at work with confidence.
